Green Witch Arsenal
In this Graphic Arts Research Project (GARP) I wanted to explore the rich culture of witchcraft. I have presented multiple ideas of how witches have been visualized through the lens of Halloween. However, as I studied witchcraft, I have discovered that a lot of green witches were deeply connected to nature and used many herbs in order to practice their craft. To represent the change on how we look at witchcraft through the centuries that we have known about it. I thought that herbs are an amazing vessel to represent that idea. Since, herbal medicine have been around for generations and is an important aspect to witchcraft.
It all began with my interest towards nature, witchcraft and the creativity that comes with Halloween. This research project was fully self directed. It involved the research part where I’ve explored the history of Halloween and multiple supernatural characters that people choose to dress as. In this project I have discovered how our perception on herbal medicine and witchcraft changed over the centuries. From traditional uses, through to witches ‘bad’ spells to today’s science.
